Q150 time capsule

A Q150 time capsule was buried and dedicated at Old Government House's Lady Bowen Lawn in Brisbane on Friday 4 December 2009. The capsule contains messages from everyday Queenslanders to future Queenslanders of 2059.

The time capsule is due to be opened when the State celebrates it's bicentenary in 2059.

The capsule contains not only memorabilia from the Q150 celebrations, but other items that will reveal much about the lives, thoughts and aspirations of people in 2009. It also includes personal messages from everyday Queenslanders.

The Q150 time capsule will include a special message from the Premier of Queensland and a selection of materials that represent what Queenslanders were talking about in 2009 including:

  • newspapers
  • swine flu
  • Climate Smart initiatives
  • technology

The Q150 time capsule is suitably marked by a special sandstone monument in the shape of Queensland, carved by Department of Public Works' stonemasons.

The Q150 time capsule is available for Queenslanders to view at Lady Bowen Lawn, Old Government House, Queensland University of Technology (Gardens Point campus), Alice Street, Brisbane.
