Q150 at the Ekka

Brisbane Ekka

6-15 August 2009

There was lots on offer at the Q150 stand at the Queensland Government Pavilion in 2009.

Did you catch a ride to Ekka on the Q150 Steam Train?
The Q150 Steam Train ('Blue Baby') picked up Ekka revellers along the Ekka Loop (Central, Brunswick Street, Exhibition, Roma Street loop) on Saturday 8 August and Wednesday 12 August (People's Day).

Queenslanders told us why they love Queensland in the Q150 Kombi
The Q150 Kombi was a recording booth built especially for Queenslanders to tell others what they loved about Queensland. In commemoration of Q150, we put it on a DVD for them to take home. With the Q150 Kombi, everyone felt like they were taking a road trip through Queensland!

A walk through Queensland's history
The young and old brushed up their knowledge of Queensland and took a walk through our State's history.

Discovering Queensland's top 150 icons
Voted by Queenslanders in 2009, some of our greatest icons were featured on a Q150 icons wall of fame. In commemoration of the Q150 icons, a commemorative Q150 icons postcard pack that lists all 150 icons was given to Ekka revellers as the perfect souvenir of the 150th celebrations!

Did you see the Q150 mosaic at the Ekka?
The Q150 mosaic is made up of a kaleidoscope of tiles that were decorated by Queensland councils (two per council). The result is a meaningful visual display marking Queensland's 150th anniversary celebrations. The magnificent art piece hung in the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion for the duration of the Ekka.
